Somone on the the IMDB message boards claims this is a Montery Breezway: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0065724/board/nest/61994752 |

Should Breezeway be part of the model name or extra details? |

Breezeway indicates the particular form of rear wiew window(Ford Anglia 105 E and Consul Classic 315-akin) |

I knew some friends of my parents who had one years ago, but it was a coupe. I used to call them "Gangster Cars," because I thought the automatic rear windows were for mobsters to stick the barrels of Tommy Guns out of. I never felt that way about Station Wagons that had that feature, though. -- Last edit: 2007-01-20 23:45:29 |

In fact the sliding down centre glass partition of rear wiew window(when down slides into space back the rear seats'backrest)was peculiar on those cars |

The lack of chrome trim on the lower beltline make me think this may have been a Canadian-only model. I know that all the US makes had Canadian-specific series back then. |

car nerd, good eye though the base model Monterey (I own a 64') didn't have any lower trim. I believe the Canadian base model "400" did not even have any chrome around the windows. http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~stanchfi/1963-models/1963-mercury-400.html (I haven't moved this page to my new site yet) For more information on 60's Mercurys check out my new site: http://www.MercuryStuff.com -James |

I'll make it Made for Canada till someone says otherwise. |

The fact that they shot so much of this film near Canada would lead me also to believe it might be a Canadian model. -- Last edit: 2013-01-17 07:21:42 |

I think the rear window thing began with the 59 Lincoln Continental hardtop sedan, same with the 60, then stopped when Lincoln changed body styles to the suicide door bodies in 61. Then Mercury started up the Monterey Breezeway 63 to 68 same rear roll down window. I actually remember seeing quite a few around growing up in the 60s so they obviously must have been popular. |
