The "Star Car" belongs to man in the Austin,Tx area. He's either in the South Texas or Gulf Coast chapters of the O.C.A.? (I think I've also seen it in person, too??) Heard they used 5 of them, but only(this)one a "real" 442.

I just love that Oldsmobile 442 its really good to see one of those again in a movie it just looks awesome this movie actually inspired me to bye a Oldsmobile 442 when I got money enough fore one but did they really have to wreck it I really hate when the makers of a movie call them selfs classic car fans and then wreck awesome old American cars fore no good reason come one they don't built these kind of cars any more have some respect fore them you can sell your grand parents to the Glue factory and you can allowe the cat to eat more Shrimps then its stomach can handle you can even bye you self a pair of Nike shoes butt when you star wrecking classic cars Then you have gone to fare way to fare

the one thing that hooked me to this movie was the car, really sad that they had to crash it into the tree

Buc84 you are correct ..they were about 5 cars used to film the scenes of the 442. but only two real.
One of them belongs to the guy who lives in Austin.
The other one belongs to me :) , I bought it from the transportation crew helper in San Antonio Texas.
For several months I thought that it was a Cutlass "S" but after running the numbers trhough http://v8cars.hu/oldsvin/decode.php we find out that it was an original 442.
The one that I have is the one that has the windshield broken (after the hitcher gets his head slammed on it).

Based on the Cutlass platform, i believe it was named the 442 because it had four up front (A four barrel carb), four on the floor (A four speed transmission) and two out back (Twin exhausts)
