I think it's a Merc S-Class but I'm not 100% sure.

S-500

There is no way of telling its engine size. I don't like seeing Mercs and BMWs labelled by default without proof.

Who concurs that this is a W220 Mercedes S-Klasse?

Yes, it is a 2000-2005 US Mercedes S-Klasse W220.

With cars that have a proper code for different generations of a model line, like VWs, BMWs, Audis and Mercs, I don't see the point of putting the first year of the model unless the exact year of production for the particular car is known. Whereas with some other cars, American cars from the 50s, 60s and 70s the model year is the only way to identify the car (also the design changed more often, whereas Merc designs are kept for the best part of a decade).

Well, it still gives an indication. Between 2000 and 2005 it is not so big, and the changes are probably very minor.
It still allows to sort Mercedes by year independantly from the model code, for example to see all recent Mercedes in movies.

But wouldn't they be sorted out by their model code anyway?

Not if you ask to sort by year:

There is a way, but just with 500-600 or AMG

G-MANN UK

And that way is?

For AMG versions bumpers, fog lights and other details like that.

ok,it's either a S430 or S500. it's not a S55 or S65 because it does not have AMG wheels nor bumpers. it's not an S600 because it does not have the "V12" badge on the side of the car and it dsnt have the S600 chrome wheels. and frm lookin at the wheels i wuld say its a 2003-2006 model. so, this car is a 2003-2006 s430 or 500

This generation of (W220) S-Klasse still had crude door-mounted side impact air bags like
its predecessor the (W140) S-Klasse. The new 2007-Onward (W221) S-Klasse finally switched
to seat-mounted side impact air bags for superior side impact protection.

Looks like 2003 due to the wheels.
