Since it is a shot of the tank's rear, i can't really say if it is a FV101 Scorpion or FV107 Scimitar, but it definitely is an Alvis CVRT variant. -- Last edit: 2006-12-08 18:50:39 |

AFAIK only original Scorpions and Scimitars had 4.2 litre Jaguar J40 engines, later ones were re-engined with a 5.9 litre Cummins BTA diesel. Only looking at the main gun will allow us to identify it better: Scorpions had the 76mm L23A1, Sabres and Scimitars have the 30mm RARDEN cannon. |

After having just watched this again, I can confirm it is indeed an original Jaguar engined Scorpion as in the shots of it, there was no visible gunbarrel. This means it has the short 76mm gun that only the Scorpion had. |

So FV 101 Scorpion instead of Sabre, according to comments above? I suppose the 1995 is for the BMW? If so it is a 1999 listed here: /vehicle_72084-BMW-M5-E39-1999.html -- Last edit: 2026-01-03 15:25:14 |

nearly impossible from that view main difference is the gun, Scorpion used a 76 gun Sabre used a 30 mm auto cannon but would say Scorpion much more likely -- Last edit: 2026-01-03 15:36:27 |
