pilou ◊ 2006-11-03 12:08	It is very dark , but the grille seems to have 7 full lenght teeth.For me it is an export model DeSoto Diplomat series SP-23 of 1951-1952 on the 118 1/2 inch Plymouth base.
pilou ◊ 2006-11-03 13:24	Small upper left picture clearly shows the DeSoto shield , hood ornament and directional lights that were more inboard than on Plymouths.So I confirm and stay with DeSoto Diplomat series SP-23 of 1951-1952.Distinction between the two years is virtually impossible on an export DeSoto without having interior details. Concerning the Plymouths , distinction between a 51 and a 52 from exterior views is also difficult.Only exterior differences 1952 versus 1951 were a round instead of a shield shaped hood medaillon,a new lower placed Mayflower ship hood ornament, front fender nameplate in script letters instead of small block letters and a lower rear Plymouth nameplate with the letters becoming part of the license plate unit.The important difference was interior appointments mainly a new reflection proof gray " Luster Tone" dashboard with centralised controls in 1952 replacing the woodgrained dash of the 1951 cars and new upholsteries.
