I'm a bit confused on this myself garco as according to the Wikipedia page on the Corolla : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Corolla the US version was listed as the "E86" and not "AE86" though everything else I see refers to the latter...? I will go ahead and change it as I think its AE86 as well. Cheers! -- Last edit: 2006-10-03 09:26:57 |

Cheers! ![]() Actually, Corollas statside that are marked AE86 on the vin are SR-5s, and they share more with the Japanese AE85 cars (carbureted SOHC engines, weaker rear axles with different final gears, rear drum brakes, etc.). The GT-S Corollas actually have the designation AE88. But both are AE86s. Just a little confusing. |

The body color panel beneath the headlights show it to be an 86 or 87. Black bumpers suggest it to be an SR5 model. Plus the fact that no white GTS models were ever sold in the US according to Toyota. -- Last edit: 2008-07-08 01:05:41 |
