I don't have my book handy, but per your comment, it would be a MS1-L41-415, 1 of 596. She's quite the stunner! -- Last edit: 2007-12-28 07:00:33 |

Hang on a sec, I think we caught a break on this Rock Hudson classic: /vehicle.php?id=97427 Did Firesweeps have any model badges? The Pillow Talk convertible clearly has them. |

It kind of ticked me off that they felt the need to damage this beauty...![]() |

Agreed. I saw this movie when I was about 9 and winced even then. Luckily, the damage was pretty much confined to a bullet hole and hammer dents in the trunklid and smashed out taillights on the passenger's side. |

According to a claim by a poster on the Chrysler Forward Look website (who apparently supplied some parts to the production), two DeSotos were used in this movie: One genuine 1959 Firesweep convertible (which was pampered) and one 2-door hardtop with the roof cut off, which was not. Although the latter had some damage, it basically survived the production, and was given a top mechanism and fully made into a convertible by a subsequent owner. |

Reviving a zombie thread... I owned what was supposedly the converted car from early 1993 to 1998. When I bought it, I did ask about the bullet hole and the broken tail lights. I was told that was all "movie magic" and when I got the car it was all intact. There was still red paint on the front bumper from where it hit the barricade in the last scene it was in. I loaned that car and a '60 Imperial coupe to the production of "Prefontane".(Not sure about the spelling; it was over 20 years ago...) The person who ended up with the Desoto did start a frame off complete restoration but I hear to this day it is not fully complete. Anyway- That was the story when I bought it, though I didn't care about the movie thing, I just wanted an 59-61 Mopar with a top that went down as I had missed by hours a 61 Newport ragtop... |
