Interesting that they used a Japanese car in this film as I'm sure there were not many (if any) in the DDR then.

There's a 323 in another Polizeiruf 110 episode:

Quote Not unfamiliar in the DDR, there where some western cars which where imported to the DDR in the late seventies, earlie eighties. Among those where VW Golf, Mazda 323, Volvo 242 and Citroën GSA Pallas. They where imported to make the looks of the street scenery of East Berlin more international. Most where sold to party members...

interesting though I don't understand german [Image: cry.gif] , was it his own car or official CX from DDR government?
I remember that the old Brejnev was known to be car (occidental luxury ones) collector ;)

It states that it was his 'Dienstwagen', which more or less means it was government owned. I don't think all the high party members drove a CX. The ironi of it is that his last CX Limousine was completed in 1989, which means he had not much time to enjoy that for long....

Front wheel drive 3- or 5- door hatchback, also a rear-drive 5 door wagon (facelifted previous generation)

It's probably some of the 10.000 Mazda 323 from the import-deal in 1981/82 (an official DDR-deal as the 10.000 VW Golf in 1978, the 5500 Citroen GSA and the 1000 Volvo 244).

 does anyone have an idea, if these 323 have also something special "made for DDR" as the Volvo 244 DLS and the Citroen GSA Pallas? AFAIK the DDR-Golf's didn't had different parts.

Made for DDR due the mandatory mudflaps.
