A type doesn't match exactly and is a bigger vehicle

Definitely Bedford A-type based vehicle. It probably was either made for export or, depending when they started being built, make from a CKD kit exported from the UK. Except for the grill and front panel everything is identical with the A-type.

The two pieces of additional chrome trim above the grill were added I expect to make them look more "American" in appearance. They may have been sold alongside Chevrolet trucks at the time in export markets.

The truck looks quite familiar too me so I know they were to be seen around the Vauxhall-Bedford plant in the mid-1950s. I cannot so far find any pictures of similar vehicles to confirm if they were sold as "Bedfords" or under another name.

Following the dating of the truck here /vehicle_148892-Bedford-D-Type-1958.html I now believe this is a D Type (A Type with GM sourced engines) probably 5-tons or more.
