If UK, Vauxhall
If Ireland, Opel
As both coutries are listed on IMDB it depends on where was made that scene :D
Though that only Ireland is listed in the filming locations, so I guess it is an Opel.

Irish license plates of the time that car was new were orangy red, even newer, being white, have more letters & numbers than that example, so I'd say it's British car, and therefore, Vauxhall.

BeanBandit wrote Irish license plates of the time that car was new were orangy red ...

Only the rear plates were red, the front plates were white like the UK plates.
So we are back to either 'Opel Ascona C' or 'Vauxhall Cavalier Mk.2', both identical twins and built from late 1981 to 1988.

Well, how about the grille, it's not from Opel.

1982 Vauxhall Cavalier (J-car) its an early model with the gaps over the headlamps and the Vauxhall grill.

Headlamps were made larger 2-3 years later in a facelift and the gaps disappeared. So this is the earlier model. (I drove and owned both models).

The Ascona equivalent for 1982 with the same headlamps is as follows with the large Opel 'blitz' logo. (de.wikipedia.org)
The Vauxhall grill was quite different with only a very small 'griffin' badge at the top in a wider plain area just under the bonnet, as this car has - the Opel had the larger badge in the centre of the grill. (vauxhallheritage.com). Later both Opel and Vauxhall grills changed with the new headlamps.

L trim level. The head rests are solid, coupled with the 1982-1984 grille, and wheels only found on the base/L trim level. GL has black center caps so we can negate that trim. All other higher spec trims have alloys.
