London Transport's MD1, a Scania Metropolitan BR111DH with MCW bodywork. It wasn't a demonstrator, though - it was the first of the production batch. The demonstrator used by London Transport was NVP 533M. LT bought 164 of these buses, I remember them well in their days running from Peckham (PM) and New Cross (NX) garages. Horribly unreliable. -- Last edit: 2006-01-11 18:46:14 |

It's a Scania Metropolitan BR111DH. The body is by MCW. The operator was London Transport. So it's a Scania....To confuse the issue, when Scania stopped building the Metropolitan, MCW developed a version of it themselves for which they built chassis AND body, called the Metrobus. This had a similar step-down front windscreen but was much more successful in service. |
