First the color “Grabber Lime” (I) was only available in 1971, second the chrome lists on the lower panel were only on 1971 mach´s and thirdly, if we could see the gas cap, it would be a popup cap, only available on 1971 mach´s. In 1972 and 1973 the mach´s had regular gas caps.

You are correct in the ID of the car, but to be accurate, the chrome mouldings you speak of were used in both '71 and '72 when a Mach 1 was ordered without hockey stick stripes (and yes, there are tons of them with dealer-added stripes despite the trim being present). The same moulding was also offered on all models except the Mach 1 in '73, as part of the Exterior Decor Group (though the trim on the '73s sat lower on the front valance panel than on the '71/2 Mach 1s). -Kurt -- Last edit: 2013-02-13 04:54:33
