It is a Austin Healey 3000 Mk.III P1 Cabriolet [BJ8] from 1963. -- Last edit: 2005-10-25 22:03:11 |

The configuration of the parking/turn signal lenses on the front of this car, and the reflectors and tail lights at the rear, argue for a build date no earlier than about March-April, 1964. BJ8 (Mark III) production did not begin until October, 1963 and the earliest cars up to about March-April, 1964 had smaller glass beehive-shaped lenses for the parking/turn signal lights in front and the stop lights in the rear, rather than the larger plastic lenses shown on this car. The car is also a convertible. Cabriolet was not a term used for Austin-Healeys. Steve Byers HBJ8L/36666 BJ8 Registry Havelock, NC USA |

Forgot to note that this car is a Phase 2 BJ8, as indicated both by the light configuration and the protruding door handles. These were thumb pushbutton-operated door handles, while the Phase 1 cars had an almost-flush pull-lever door handle. |
