Actually, Allison drove Hawaiian Tropic #1 Chevrolet 1978 - 1980, 1975 he drove #88 DiGard Chevy. |

And this is not a NASCAR version, it is a 'nascar-ed' street car. Note the bonnet (hood) hinges, insulator mat underneath stock hood, stock air cleaner and fan schroud, headlamps and chrome moldings around the side windows, door mirrors and plastic/rubber moldings on the bumpers. Also the position of the wheels within the wheel openings, door handles and lack of cutouts for the side exhaust dump pipes. All this would be severely altered on a real NASCAR. |

1976 Chevrolet Chevelle Laguna S3 driven by Terry Bradshaw & Mel Tillis. When they paint it gray. It transforms into 76' Monte Carlo. www.imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=10269 |

It`s quite obvious that they used two different cars during the film. Building a Monte Carlo out of a Laguna in one day would be like building a Beetle out of a bus. Besides, it would be a terrible waste of a Laguna.... |

That link by Carfan is a 76-77 Monte (NASCAR 78-80) but is a pic of a legit stock car, There was a Laguna #1 Hawaiian Tropic car in NASCAR. HT sponsored long enough to use a couple differnet body styles, Ithink even the smaller 80's cars for a season or two. the Laguna in this movie is a street car painted and accessorized to look like a stock car, yes. I need to see this film again to watch the continuity glitch with the gray Monte and # Laguna. Too funny! |

Something I just notice when they're fixing it after dragging it out of the pool I think in the scene they used a Monte Carlo, the C pillar is much boxier than that of the Chevelle |
