both are most likely survivors from the 1980 film smokey and the bandit 2 which was also directed by hal needham. legend has it there were ~ 75 brand new lemans' ordered by a rental car agency in phoenix, AZ and someone forgot to check the option box for air conditioning and the rental car company refused the cars. nobody wants to drive a car without AC in phoenix, lol. the cars were sold to needham and used in the demo derby at the end of smokey and the bandit 2 |
