This car was first introduced during second season, in 1979. I thought I remembered Bobby saying it was brand new in the episode he gave it to Pam. The late 70's Corvettes are very similar...are we sure this isn't a 1979 model?

First year of models for what? Sorry, don't quite understand what you meant. :) I still think this is most likely a 1979 model Corvette...but I could be wrong.

He means the earliest year the particular car could have been built. CF this Buick: /vehicle_499325-Buick-Park-Avenue-1997.html it's listed as a 1997 but it could equally be a 2001 but as we don't know we go for the first possibility in 1997. In the case of the Vette the car could be a '79 or it could be a '77 or '78 by general features. It's not uncommon for a car to be described as new in a TV Series or Movie but to be in fact a few years old.

Gotcha! :) However, if no one is certain of the year of a vehicle pictured here, but it is known to be within a certain number of years, wouldn't it be better to put that year-span with it...rather than stating it as one particular year? Using your example with the Buick...wouldn't it be better to list the Buick as a 1997-2001 (if no one is for sure), rather than stating it as a 1997--giving the viewer the impression or idea that it is indeed a '97 model? Just a thought.

Thanks for clarifying the "Dallas" Corvette. I doubt it's a '77 model...if it's not a '79 then it's most likely a '78. But, I do also know that sometimes shows (especially older ones) sometimes claimed a car was new when it was a year or two old...sometimes more.

This appears to be a 1977 Corvette. In early 1977 the standard alarm activation key switch (standard equip since 1972 on the rear end) was moved from the left front fender, where it had been since 1974, to being part of the driver door key lock. The absence of the standard alarm switch would suggest 1977. In 1978 the rear window had a completely different "bubble' design not to be confused with the previous C3 versions.
I also recall the A pillar was black in '77.
