What happens with its headlights? :??: They are missing, or they are too dark

The headlamps look like the ones painted on race(stock)cars.

These blackout lens are used for the night scene filters as you can see second to last thumbnail provided by sixcyl.

As we know that Stanley Kubrick was obsessed with perfecting the lighting effect ;)

The cab in thumbs 5,6 and 9 are a 1977-79 Caprice Classic. Likely the 1979 used here /vehicle_1054712-Chevrolet-Caprice-Classic-1979.html seeing as it was also filmed in the UK.

There is a YouTube video that includes an interview with a NY artist who Kubrick used to provide photography of contemporary New York City that he could reference in recreating "New York" on sets at Pinewood Studios in the UK. Kubrick began to trust her work so much that she was tasked with "bringing New York" to Pinewood, including obtaining some taxis that are used in the film. Kubrick hadn't been to New York since the late 1960s, got into the back of one of these standard Chevrolets and was immediately surprised by the lack of room in them. "Where's the leg room?" He was so used to the purpose-built taxis of London and the ubiquitous Checkers still on the streets of NY when he was last there. Such was the focus on detail that Kubrick didn't pull some vehicles that looked the part and painted them yellow, but actually imported genuine taxis.
