What year would this be? |
|
◊ 2008-08-08 22:05 |
No older than a 1963 |

The series had an M715 in it. |

I was first thinking an International Harvester, or, an old Studebaker. But, Jeep seems far more likely ![]() |

1963-1968 Gladiator [J-300] with Triftside bed. |

I wonder if those are the original tires. -- Last edit: 2012-01-23 01:02:02 |

The wheels, tires, and suspension don't seem to be original. The wheels and tires are too wide, and the suspension is too high to be factory equipment. |

What kind of tires are those on the jeep? |
|

They are Mickey Thompson Baja Belted |

Very cool truck..It's an early Gladiator with the small rear window. Looks like a short bed, so rather a J200/J2000 than a J300/J3000, and the stepsides were indeed called "thriftside" by kaiser jeep |

I just notice this, it has J-200 badge. |
|

With that badging, it's a 1963 to early 1965 model. It most likely has the OHC 230ci inline six engine in it. |

wonder if its manual or automatic |
|

In the scene where they get stuck Earl says to Val "you are going to burn out the clutch". |
|
◊ 2019-07-04 22:55 |
yes, but I am confused because in the same scene val seems to put it in 4wd by pulling a lever back but I don't see a gear shifter on the floor, unless the shifter is on the column |

not saying its the case for this one but looks like it was like this in 1962 -- Last edit: 2019-07-04 23:11:57 |

wonder if it has the 3 speed manual or the 4 speed |
|

There actually IS a floor shifter. It is barely visible, next to Val's leg as he kicks it into four-wheel drive. It's black in color, and it only seen for a split second. Whether it's a 3 speed or 4 speed is beyond my knowledge. |

Given that it says "Earl's Ranch" on the door, that would be one of the two used in "Tremors 2," which weren't used in the original movie. |

Movie rental house in LA listing https://picturecarwarehouse.net/auto/1967-jeep-gladiator-j2000-2362/ I believe this is the screen used film truck left in it's last used configuration. You can see the remnants of the V + E Odd Jobs lettering on the doors and the rear bumper is clearly the same. The interior pictures at the listing give more details that should be able to match up as well. Edit: looked again - this is a large rear window truck. So clearly not the hero truck for most of the movie. Dang. Possibly a 2nd unit or some other truck used in the production? (There's a shot when they have Edgar Deems body in the bed of the truck that shows the truck bed is plywood that maybe this truck since this truck also has the bed deck replaced with plywood?) -- Last edit: 2026-04-16 20:17:52 |
