BB stands for "Berlinetta Boxer" in this case the car uses a Flat twelve Boxer engine

Boxers are still used by Subaru and Porsche

Almost correct, never sold as USA or Canada-spec cars but imported as Euro versions and federalized locally. Same goes for all versions 365GT4/512/512i. Ferrari never bothered with developing a NA version but noticing how there was great interest for such a car (is thought that in 1 in 4 cars ended up in the US anyway) went completely the opposite way with the successor Testarossa which not only had a proper NA version but was basically created with the US market in mind.
