I saw this again last night. I'm wondering, was the sunroof factory fitted or a customisation, possibly because it is driven by 7 foot actor Carel Struycken (who also played Lurch in the 1991 Addams Family movie), but then the 600 does have a pretty high roof that might be able to accommodate a man of his height anyway. -- Last edit: 2006-10-17 13:13:36 |

Owned by the devilish Daryl Van Horne (Jack Nicholson), he is usually driven in it by his giant manservant Fidel (Carel Struycken), however at the end of the film, after being tortured via voodoo doll by the three 'witches' (Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer) he gets behind the wheel and races back to the mansion, meanwhile inside the women are frantically clearing up the kitchen which they've performing voodoo in to drive him away, and the voodoo doll gets tossed around, and Daryl almost gets thrown out of the car, smashing through the back window. At one point this magnificent car gets slammed against a concrete wall (hope they used a replica, this is a rare car). -- Last edit: 2006-10-17 13:31:20 |

When I first saw it I thought how could they do that, they don't make these anymore. I hate seeing exquisite cars getting wrecked in films. -- Last edit: 2006-10-17 15:28:21 |

The fourth thumbnail would make an impressive main image, though you ought to expand it a bit. |

In 1972/'73 we maintained a customer car that was a Mercedes 600. It had red lights installed on the front, which is normally illegal in MA. This car, however, had some official status because it belonged to the Harbormaster of Hyannis or nearby Hyannisport. I guess there was some sort of police power associated with the position. I think that this must be the same car from tWoE. It looks just like it. I hear that it is at the Peterson Museum but their website does not recognize it. I wonder if anyone from the Hyannis area might recall this car? Bob ---- |

Jack Nicholson bought this car from Warner Brothers' after production. Had it restored and was photographed with in as recently as 2003 (twenty years ago, wow) |
