This truck is a 1924 Chevrolet Model H. I'm not saying this cab couldn't be on a different model of Chevrolet truck. Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" Liberty Garage, Warm Springs, California https://vcca.org/acadp_listings/want-to-buy-for-1923-25-truck-3/ Ed Archer of Hayward CA, has this Liberty Garage logo'd Chevrolet truck on which he transports his 1915 Ford Model T Racer. Link to "www.performanceracingtechtalk.com" Ed Archer to me "It's a Model H. Pretty sure the body was built by a company called Schurmeier and Whitney in Minneapolis, Minnesota, builder of truck bodies with those curved front quarter windows." -- Last edit: 2025-11-04 00:03:24 |

Chevrolet » Model T (1918 - 1923) In 1918 the first commercial Chevrolet truck - the 1-ton Model T was presented. Chevrolet made only the chassis, fenders and cowl. The body was installed by aftermarket companies or dealers. The vehicle utilized a 125-inch wheelbase. https://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1042 Chevrolet » Model G (1921 - 1922) The news of 1921 year was the introduction of the Model G 3/4-ton truck chassis. This basically was the Series 490 running gear and engine built into longer (120-inch wheelbase) and heavier frame and rear axle. https://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1043 Chevrolet » Model D / H (1923 - 1925) A new 1-ton Model D has a 120-inch wheelbase chassis which was essentially the same, as used on Model G. The engine, transmission and clutch were taken from the passenger Superior Series B. Chevrolet still sold only chassis, and ordered all of its truck bodies from outside firms. In 1924 the Series D became the Series H, but except for the change in designation, remained essentially the same vehicle. https://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1044 Chevrolet » Series M / R / X (1925 - 1927) In January, 1925, Chevrolet introduced the Series M 1-ton commercial chassis that can be regarded as a transitional 1925 model. Later in 1925 the Series R 1-ton chassis was introduced, between the Series M and the Series X which came out as a definite 1926 model. The Series M used the same engine, clutch and transmission as the Series K car, and the same rear axle as used in the former Series H. It was mounted on a 120-inch wheelbase chassis and had a new steel radiator shell similar in contour to that of the cars. No cowl was used, the hood being supported by the dashboard-firewall combination. The Series R used a 124-inch wheelbase chassis, and its engine, clutch, transmission, hood, radiator, fenders and lights on a crossbar were the same as used on the Series K cars. However, when used on the truck, the radiator shell was of pressed steel, while the cars used a cast aluminum shell. The Series R also was supplied without cowl, as the Series M. In 1926, a successor of a Series R was introduced - the Series X. It was a 1-ton chassis of 124-inch wheelbase, and on it was mounted a new panel body - Chevrolet's first production truck body. It also could be ordered with an all-steel closed cab, built by Chevrolet, or as a commercial chassis. The Series X used running gear, hood, fenders and lights from the Series V cars. The Series X was changed only little from The Series R which it replaced. https://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1045 Chevrolet » Series LM / LO / LP (1927 - 1929) With the introduction of a new Chevrolet Capitol Series AA car, a new truck series was also brought out. The new series known as the LM. Basically, these trucks were little different than the R or X series, though the radiator shell followed the lines of the Capitol autos. Chevrolet offered its own panel body with new design till 1928, again leaving this field wide open to the after-market body builders. The Series LM chassis are available with only fenders, running boards, radiator and hood; as chassis and cowl units, or as chassis, cowl and closed cabin. The 1-ton chassis continued to use 124-inch wheelbase. The LO series replaced the LM series in 1928, but then the LO was succeeded at mid-year by the LP Series. Actually, the LO series was almost identical to the LM series, and can be considered a transitional vehicle. However, the LP series offered many mechanical improvements over previous truck models. https://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1046 Chevrolet » Series LT / M / N (1931 - 1932) In 1931 all trucks received an updated appearance via a new painted radiator shell of the same contour as used on the car line, plus the same hood and headlights as used on the cars, through the truck headlights were painted black. The fenders used were the same stampings as used for the 1929 and 1930 cars. The designation of a new 1.5-ton series was the LT. It is continued the 131-inch wheelbase, but a new 157-inch wheelbase was added. Single or optional dual wheels were available. Again at mid-season, the 1.5-ton line received a change. The LT Series was discontinued and the new M Series was introduced. Externally, there was no difference between the two series, but the M Series featured a newly designed 4-speed transmission, and the panel and express bodies could now be ordered with extra-wide fenders and running boards for dual wheels. For the first time also, Chevrolet trucks could be ordered in various colors. In 1932 the trucks were quite similar to those of 1931. The Series M was changed by the Series N. Externally, both series were identical, but received new 194 cubic inch engine from the car line, which developed 60 hp at 3000 rpm. https://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1052 |
