Between years 1988 to 1989, the 2.3L 4D55 diesel engine was replaced by the now legendary and long-lived 2.5l 4D56 engine. While the front-fascia remains the same, diesel-engined vehicles feature a small "2.5 DIESEL" sticker under the right-side headlight. Diesel cars would have their gas caps be located to be under the deck and petrol engined vehicles would remain to be located in left-side cabin. Petrol cars featured no change from 1986-1988 models but this engine was available with the addition of the "DEKRA" flat-deck. For 1989, the quarter window was removed. Front fascia remains the same until 2007. (1995 Starwagon Brochure shown) For 1996, petrol-engined vehicles would be discontinued due to lacklustre sales, all 1996+ L300s are diesels and as such would receive the "2.5 DIESEL" sticker and relocated gas cap. -- Last edit: 2026-01-14 05:14:21
