Yes, this is sort of a 740 or a 940, or a 760 or a 960. Sort of. If you compare it to the real thing, it's impossible to determine a specific year or model. Mind you, Volvo's are pretty difficult to spot anyway, as they kept the models for many years to keep the cost low, because changing the body shape using sheet metal is very expensive for a small company. Instead Volvo did small changes all the time (SWE: ÄT = Ändringtillfällen, ENG = Times of changes) about ten times a year including one major after the holidays. Those changes depending on changes of suppliers or improvements because of many reasons. If you know Volvo's in details, which I do on some parts (minor ones which I've came across while trying to repair a car which I've kept far too long...), it's possible to use that information on this site. However, cartoons cannot be used, unless very well made indeed. This Volvo, or whatever it is, is not! |

But I must say the one behind the Volvo gives a rather good impression of a Peugeot 309. I remember those hubcaps very well, albeit with more holes. I've only seen those 'Volvo' wheels on toy cars! -- Last edit: 2025-09-11 23:37:58 |

I'd have to agree with this statement here. The way I see it, certain specificities are hard to spot to the untrained eye, especially for older Volvo models. This cartoon drawing here, is simply an amalgamation of various versions of Volvo's executive car; the 700 and the succeeding 900 Series model. An artist's rendition, if you will. The questions remain though, will this be listed as an "unknown" forever, or will we come into a conclusion that we set a specific model of this particular Volvo as "default"? Like mentioned earlier, with this being a mishmash of two Volvos, this'll probably going to be an "unknown" forever. |
