We've identified this vehicle using the details you provided FORD NOT RECORDED 1955 Registration number: NGY 655 Body type: Breakdown Truck Colour: Orange Date of first registration: January 1955 But it's not really a Ford yet, despite google hits as one - it's a Thames ET6 with Harvey Frost crane. |

Interesting. Someone ought to inform DVLA, though. They list it as a Ford. ![]() |

They don’t care. Their records are riddled with inaccuracies. |

^ Yes, I have gathered that in my short time here. Hence, my tongue was planted firmly in my cheek when I made that comment. ![]() |

Not sure about this particular truck, but certainly the Thames E83W vans, which were originally called Fordson, carried a badge on the side of the bonnet saying “A Ford Product”. So the DVLA might be given a little room for error or extrapolation. I suppose that it all came from the feeling that giving commercial vehicles the same name as the cars makes snobbish people not so keen to buy. So, Ford/Fordson/Thames; Morris/Morris-Commercial, Hillman/Commer. It didn’t seem to bother Austin, though. -- Last edit: 2023-06-10 08:38:07 |
