He spent much time keeping his master properly presented to the world, acting as valet and cook/housekeeper, general dogsbody and advisor, visitor to bookmakers, pacifier of Aunts, and “fixer” for Bertie Wooster. Much more than a chauffeur, not quite a butler in a single man’s household, but generally considered of similar status to the butler when visiting larger households.
