Should be marked as made for EU/GB due to the rear badge placement and foglamp in the driver's side rear light. Trim could possibly be FQ-300 or FQ-330 due to the small plaque under the gearstick (best seen when James escapes from the frozen lake).

J spec models would have a rear wiper arm. Plus as digitalluke64dd said different rear badge placement. This is more than likely an EU spec model. Compare the ones listed on goo-net-exchange.

Shouldn't the FQ have the FQ lettering on the bottom of the door? Also, Hammond said (and I think May too; he did specifically say it's a GSR) in the film that these cars had 276hp, so maybe this is a standard Evo that's modified. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's an FQ considering Hammond got a limited edition Impreza as well.

We've identified this vehicle using the details you provided
MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION VIII GSR 2005
Registration number: CP54HRK
Body type: 4 Door Saloon
Colour: Yellow
Date of first registration: January 2005

Suggests it arrived new to UK. Are the double gills on each side front valance significant for version? Doesn't occur on most of our Evo 8s.

Good to know it's not JDM, feel really cringe when the car got so damage to the point of written-off.

No need, I guess. The car had Voltex (or Voltex-replica) front bumper installed.

Not a 2005. This is a 2004 MY by the VIN and built date.

Not just that but also an Evo IX rear bumper. It seems this car wasn't as standard as we'd expect a car chosen by James May to be. And the aftermarket exhaust suggests it may have had some minor engine mods as well.

Also, DriveTribe's recent Evo VIII video says that this car hasn't been crushed (as written off cars usually are) but is sitting in an Amazon facility and is banned from being used due to the damage.

Ironically it was Captain Slow that crashed this time. Looks like he got off easy if you saw what happened to the Vampire Dragster or the Rimac.

So is it only banned from the streets in UK or is it possible it can be imported and driven elsewhere?

There's no sign on check sites that it's banned from UK roads, including a couple of insurance quote sites. The MoT has expired, so it would need a new test and pass before becoming legal again, both for the state of the car and to obtain insurance. There's no restriction on exporting it for use elsewhere, but it would have to be acceptable for whatever rules apply in its destination country.

By banned, it means that Amazon considers it a liability and and won't allow anyone to use it, in case some mishap happens and the blame falls on Amazon (like many movie and TV show cars). Since the chassis is bent, I don't think it would pass the MoT so it maybe well remain non-road worthy.
