Frogeye = Austin Healey Sprite Mk1, AND ONLY MK1, made by Austin Div of BMC 1959 Spitfire built by Triumph, part of Leyland, and previously Standard-Triumph, nothing to do with BMC then. TR 2,3,3A,4,4A,5 and 6 cars also built by Triumph. TR7 and TR8 something different, but still not Frogeye. No connection until Leyland and BMC merged to form > British Leyland, an automotive engineering and manufacturing conglomerate formed in the United Kingdom in 1968 as British Leyland Motor Corporation Ltd, following the merger of Leyland Motors and British Motor Holdings. Chalk and cheese. The Frogeye was an Austin A35 in drag. The TR2 to 4A were Standard Vanguards in drag, the 5 and 6 were Triumph 2500s in drag. -- Last edit: 2022-03-04 16:37:33 |
