1994 was the first model year for the Escudo, but a blank model year I've left should be the best because I see a potential hackjob similar to those Ford Crown Vics and Econolines/E-Series, which we'll get to that shortly. Coming back to one of my contributions for updates; Correct chassis code is [TD] for the 5-door, based on our other first-gen 5-door Vitara/Escudo/Sidekick entries. [TA] is for the 3-door. My mistake, I probably followed NissanSilviaKs' contributions to list this back then, he's indeed 100% wrong. Just posted some comments to the entries he contributed that I've used to reference this for corrections, just in time when a latest entry of these appeared in this movie. Also, Made for RI as differed specs and trim level names were confirmed previously. Locally assembled. About that hackjob I'm talking about earlier; looking between this, the original brochures posted in the internet, used car classifieds and Wikipedia, it might be an Escudo Nomade due to the wheels and the extended side molding, which was launched here for the 1997 MY to replace the old JLX trim. Originally standard with two-tone paints, Suzuki reverted its colors to single-tone paints for 1999, like the one we're seeing here (I only found its 1997 brochures with the two-tone paint, but not the 1999-2001 ones). The reason I said this a hackjob; 1999-2001 single-tone color (Escudo Nomade) 1994-1997 bumpers with plastic black trims (pre-Nomade Escudo) Factory-optional/aftermarket chrome door handles (applies to all first-gens, whether a Vitara, Escudo, Sidekick or Escudo Nomade) So, definitely an Escudo Nomade with earlier normal Escudo parts, or it's the opposite of that (earlier Escudo with Escudo Nomade parts)? Probably depends if this one was previously crashed and have replacement parts mixed up from one of its other versions, or was deliberately changed by someone (whatever its owner or not). Exactly why I was correct on blanking the model year to this one, before any heated arguments and debates ended up flooding this comments section. |
