more likely a Jimny Sierra because of the upper rubber windshield support. -- Last edit: 2022-01-05 20:12:52 |

Cannot be a Katana because per of Wikipedia, the SJ-series was first introduced here as a Jimny, possibly around 1981 or late 1982, as a low-roof hardtop model called the Super Jimny. The Katana nameplate wasn't arrived here until 1989, after Suzuki's response to Indonesia's high tax law for 4x4/4WD vehicles that includes the Super Jimny (the Katana is a 4x2/2WD model only). However, this one shown here is an earlier canvas-top convertible model, which was marketed here as the Jimny Sierra (or for somehow reason, just Sierra per the brochures?) for 1983-1985. The Jimny Sierra were sold here in fairly smaller numbers. Canvas-top versions of the Katana did existed here, but brochures from the internet (and in some videos linked very down below) reveals the canvas-tops were only available in the pickup truck version for the earlier models, while canvas-top convertible models appeared as late facelifted models only, such as the Katana Country. Correction; it should be a Jimny Sierra, not a Katana, as all mentioned above. Super Jimny: ![]() "Jimny" Sierra: ![]() Katana: ![]() For Wikipedia info, see here. Some brochures posted above were taken from this video. A news source example for the 1983-1985 canvas-top convertible models. EDIT: After mods edited this entry, just realized that the Indonesian brochures were right at me, the Sierra nameplate without the Jimny nomenclature was actually real... over in Australia. I was originally targeted to local used car classified sites and local news sources here to get the official name, until realizing the brochures were indeed right at this, the 1983-1985 canvas-top convertible models in Indonesia shared the same simple Sierra nameplate as those over in Australia. My bad in my part... -- Last edit: 2024-07-31 12:30:39 |
