"Purchased in London by John Frankenheimer (director of 51 films including Grand Prix and Ronin) during a weekend trip to Savile Row while filming The Train in France."

LHD, knobbly over-riders, all-red rear lights (without orange), white sidelights - not a UK spec, even if it was bought in London. Matches a US spec for visual detail.

Also called a 1963 by some sources.

So he just walked into Rolls-Royce Park Lane and bought a new Silver Cloud to American specifications off the shelf?

Well it makes a good story. Maybe RR Park Lane had one as a stock item for eg diplomatic sales or wealthy tourists doing Europe??

Doubtful, you might as well go to Malvern Link and try the same trick.

Well, maybe not so much of late.

RR was on on Conduit Street, not Park Lane. Unless previously ordered for delivery they would not have had a LHD Silver Cloud III waiting for a client to pick upin a whim.
