Eclipse had a retractable steel-roof and was therefore longer in wheelbase. The subject car has a fabric roof and it looks shorter than the Eclipse, it looks like a less expensive Cabriolet/Décapotable. Though if the plate is from 1942, then I don't think any convertibles were ever made during the WWII. Plus it has a later (I think, at the very least 1939) grille.
