I remember the 77 Toronado with the extra set of lights integrated into the bottom of the rear window, and I always thought it was a smart design feature not done for style but genuine function. Indeed, I thought that was superior to the center mounted light. You can't miss it any more than you can miss the lights on some Escalades, Volvo wagons, and Honda CRVs.

CHMSL became mandatory in 1985, but yes, its a smart move here.
