Are we sure it is a Bora? It seems a little different from the others (otherwise, it would be a Bora A4 Typ 1J I suppose?) |

Does look like the second gen China bora to me (2008-2013 model): ![]() I think origin should be china, no? -- Last edit: 2024-10-22 17:44:56 |

Indeed, we only had one 2008 model (2013 seems different) and not seen from the front, hence why I didn't find which one it was ![]() Are the two currently listed without year also 2008 models? (rear view, it could match the existing 2008 with rear view) -- Last edit: 2024-10-22 19:13:38 |

The two are indeed also 2008 models. I will appeal once again, are we sure we wanna list the Volkswagens made in china, but which were made in europe aswell as the "european" gen (like first chinese-made Bora being listed as a 4th gen)? Chinese-made Bora is currently on its 4th gen... -- Last edit: 2024-10-22 23:13:01 |

Well those models are the Chinese-build of the A4 Bora, so it does not seem so wrong to list them that way, as back then they were a 4th gen Bora, even if it was the first gen being from FAW-VW. Maybe we could drop the A4 and keep only the "Typ 1J". But is the current one really a 4th generation or just a 4th restyling of that 2001-2002 model? -- Last edit: 2024-10-23 09:58:03 |

Well I'd argue that theres a degree of separation made by listing these cars as a FAW-Volkswagen, so you wont get "first gen" bora for european/american markets together with the "first gen" one for china. And yes, there are really multiple different generations of Bora made in China. 2001-2008, with facelift for MY2006, 2008-2016, with facelift for MY2013. Then theres the 3rd gen, but which can be argued is a heavy rework of the second gen, built without facelift from 2016 to 2022, and lastly the newest one built from 2018 to today, with facelift in 2022. |

Or maybe, for the Shanghai/FAW VW, we could drop the whole A4, B5 etc. generations, and just use generic mk1, mk2 etc. |
