Looks like a Morris Cowley or Oxford 'Flatnose'? However with the wheel covers over the spoked wheels is unusual I guess? |

The sight glass under the radiator mascot suggests that this is a mid twenties Lanchester. Despite some minor differences I am going to suggest that this is a Twenty One Enclosed Drive Limousine from 1925, give or take a year or two. |

Link to "www.flickr.com" Looks close, wheels seem ok, door configuration would appear to match, bonnet with fixed side panels matches, and, of course, the radiator. -- Last edit: 2018-04-04 15:44:47 |

It looks likely to be the same vehicle. The name Lanchester features in the screenplay, so the pretence that it is the Lanchester factory is reinforced by the use of one of the cars. The works was situated in Birmingham during the twenties, but it is a shame that Tommy Shelby drives a Bentley. Presumably they couldn’t source a suitable Lanchester Thirty, or even a Forty. At roughly the same period, the following selling prices apply, chassis only, no coachwork: - Lanchester 21 £1,000 Bentley 3 litre. £1,050 Daimler 35 £975 Rolls-Royce 20 £1,185 Austin Seven £140 Complete with saloon body. Ford T two seater, complete, £110. So for those of you who don’t know the position held by Lanchester in the twenties, there it is, right up with the quality. -- Last edit: 2018-04-13 17:32:09 |

Door configuration appears to be different to me than most Lanchesters of the size and period? The three hinges on the B-pillar for the rear doors show they are not suicide doors. There also looks to be a closing-panel covering the chassis under the doors unlike the exposed chassis. Cannot say but the chassis or wheelbase could be shorter then normal? |

Information from Chris Clark http://www.lanchesters.com who owns both cars. "Both the green and the blue cars are absolutely original Lanchesters, the former 1927 and the latter 1924. For interest, both these are shown in A4-size in full colour in Lanchester Legacy, Volume 1, a book I wrote some years ago. This Volume also shows Lanchesters used in other films, eg: Rebecca, The Bentley Boys, Dad's Army, Jeeves & Wooster." The blue one appears to me to be the main picture, all doors forward hinged; with the green car here having suicide doors at the rear. ![]() |
