I think UK name was 2000 Mark II [RX12] (without Corona. And a bit illogical as we never had a 2000 Mark I). |

Wasn't it just "Mark II" ? It seems curious because, contrary to other japanese manufacturers, Toyota kept most of its cars' names when they were exported. So the general export range was 1000, Corolla, Carina, Celica, Corona, "2000 Mark II", Crown ? It seems weird. Also, the whole "2000 Mark II" on IMCDB comes from a conversation regarding this one : /vehicle.php?id=28784#Comment2050387 With the proof coming from a french magazine. And I'm very suspiscious about its value because, as I explained there, french mags of the time tended to simplify foreign cars' names. |

I'm pretty sure it was (Corona) Mark II 2000 - with 2000 referring to the engine size and Mark II being the model range. In Norway, the full original name was used, however there may be exceptions, as I know that the Carina was marketed in Sweden simply as the Toyota 1600. -- Last edit: 2017-09-04 14:57:08 |

Yes, Mark II 2000 seems more logical than 2000 Mark II. |

It all seems very messy. UK brochures seem to adopt whichever permutation and sequence of Corona, 2000 and Mark II they feel like that week. Glass's suggests Corona was omitted. Rear badge seems to say Toyota 2000, but that script might be Corona 2000 instead. I've no strong opinion on which way we go from here. |
