 I don't agree ;) for the date - it was clearly written 1968 in the opening credits - IMHO we can be better informed than the IMDB.

In case of the name, maybe it has been already solved by antp, but in the past titles with such characters didn't work correctly in some cases.

 All right, then. I agree with your disagreement, and I'm glad to see a Żuk in Žert.
(Same prononciation for the Polish Ż and the Czech Ž, right?)

Yes "Ż" and "Ž" is the same, however Żuk and for example Škoda were specially modified by main admin to be displayed with local letters, these are exceptions like for now = these letters work on the site only in these names/words.
Of course in comments it is possible to use nearly every letter (as I guess) - the problems are only with the clickable links to the IMCDb subpages.

 IMDb uses release years, so we use to do the same.
Copyrights in movies often indicate production years, hence the difference.
And for the characters, due to the way it is stored in the database currently, it is better to use only western-european character set, like IMDb does, but as nobody follows that "rule" anyway, it does not matter much :p

 It happens that "we" —me, on few instances— do not follow IMDb rules for obvious reasons (eg. when a film had its release very postpones, or simply when IMDb is wrong).

In this case, Weasel is right to stick to the year given by the copyright. The movie wouldn't have been made in 1969 (for political reasons) and its confidential release in Czechoslovakia was a reluctant and postponed one.

I also do think that when we choose not to follow IMDb, we should indicate why.
And naturally, as far as possible, we should say when the movie was shot, if there is a big gap between the time of shooting and the time of release (eg. Walk Softly, Stranger).

 True. It is not matter of this movie, but it also can be important for dating of listed cars - so simply from this site point of view.

 Je viens d'avoir le plaisir de revoir La plaisanterie (Žert) (et j'en ai profité pour chronométrer les photos extraites par Weasel1984 - time-tagged). Le film n'a pas pris une ride, Jaromil Jireš est ici au niveau du meilleur de Jiří Menzel, et l'acteur principal Josef Somr sensationnel une fois de plus. Un film puissant, cruel drôle, tragique, adaptant parfaitement le roman de Milan Kundera.
