Interesting film-noir based in a true history but I didn't find any article about the real press-reporter (James Stewart) and the real convicted (Richard Conte). As you can see, the vehicles are not important for (great) Henry Hathaway![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The man was called Joe Majczek, not Wiecek as in the movie. There are many articles on Google Archive, but most pay-per-view. The New York Times - June 1, 1983 "Joseph M. Majczek, whose wrongful 1933 murder conviction in the still-unsolved death of a policeman was the basis for the movie ''Call Northside 777,'' died Sunday after a long illness. He was 73 years old."
