When I was on the set a few months ago, there were scattered fiberglass castings of a first-generation Ford Thunderbird littered about, along with a completely rotted 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special. I was told that this strange fleet was recently expanded with another T-Bird; no word on whether the second is real or not. My bet is that the T-Bird plunging into the water in the teaser trailer is the fiberglass car, though I can't be certain. The '59 Fleetwood was supposedly cut up, probably for interior shots. The '58 Cadillacs arrived after I finished my work. I don't have any other information other than the period bicycles which were procured for the series, which were as follows (as best as my memory serves me): 1958 Schwinn Jaguar (? - don't remember), 3-speed w/Sturmey-Archer shifter, Flamboyant Green. Minty machine; rode beautifully. 1957 Schwinn Jaguar MkII, 3-speed w/Schwinn Approved shifter, black. Notable as its 3-speed cable kept getting hung up on the inside of the tank. Had to replace the cable. 1962 Schwinn Debutante - the only one I have a partial photo of. The turn-of-the-century bike was not going to be used. 1957 Schwinn Corvette, Flamboyant Red; 2-speed Bendix kick-back, IIRC 195X Huffy, ladies'. Falling apart, but ridable - chainguard refused to stay put though. 1964+ J.C. Higgins Spaceliner, ladies' (Sears Spaceliner, essentially) 1973 Columbia Tourist III - might wind up in a background shot, I was told. There were also three 20" and a few 24" Schwinn models there - didn't take much note of them, just fixed them. EDIT: Bike photos. First is the '57 Corvette 2-speed kickback: '57 Schwinn Jaguar Mark II at left, followed by the Flamboyant Green Jaguar, and a 24" Schwinn in Flamboyant Green. Rider at right is on the '62 Corvette: A pretty poor photo of the '62 Debutante (seen better in the prop shop picture above): -Kurt -- Last edit: 2012-06-08 03:28:08 |

FYI, the Pontiac Chieftain was provided by Ted Vernon's Specialty Automobiles (now SOBE Classics), unlike most of the others: http://www.tedvernon.com/Pontiac/1957-Pontiac-Chieftain-2dr-776TV.asp -Kurt -- Last edit: 2012-03-22 01:22:07 |

After seeing three episodes, I can say one thing for certain: A great selection of cars, woefully underused. Hardly anything gets decent screentime in the first 3 episodes, with exception to the '57 T-Bird (which, in its own right, is on screen for less than 2 minutes). -Kurt -- Last edit: 2012-04-01 23:35:59 |

Vilero, I believe - but don't quote me on this - that the interior of that Riviera coupe was shot in the 1957 Lincoln Premiere. -Kurt |

So that's what the rusted '59 Fleetwood was used for. -Kurt |

^ Confirmation of the above - I saw the '59 Fleetwood leaning outside the prop shop today; the front half, that is. It has been been cut in half. The '60 Thunderbird was peeking out of one of the roll-up doors, along with a late-1940's/early-1950's cab of unknown make or model. -- Last edit: 2012-10-09 11:48:08 |
