that's not what I meant, very few very early CGI and very limited used, most is done via models !!

today everything would have been green/blue screen for actors and absolutely everything else CGI which looks way too lifeless IMO , this however has real substance and looks far more believable like those dudes are realy above Jupiter traveling between space ships

It looks good when you combine real things, models and CGI.
What looks fake is the full CGI stuff, and also the CGI done quickly: good ones need time, which usually means money. But even with money, you still need time to do it properly.
