![]() Good film. Most of this work concerned Int.Movie Aircraft Data Base rather than IMCDB ... but I won't complain ![]() http://www.impdb.org/index.php?title=The_Great_Waldo_Pepper Other kind of nice birds ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2010-12-08 23:03:20 |

A Lockheed 8C Sirius, as far as I can see. Most, if not all, planes used in this film were either replicas or modifications using existing planes. It is a Standard J-1. A Curtiss JN-4 'Jenny'. For the crash scenes a modified de Havilland DH 82A Tiger Moth replaced the Curtiss. It is a Bücker Bü 133 Jungmeister with an engine modification, probably a Lycoming. The original radial engine would have looked better for a film playing in the 1920s. Another Curtiss JN-4 'Jenny'. Here the Standard and the Curtiss fly in formation. Nice to see how similar they are. Another Standard J-1. It is a modified de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk, first flown in 1946. You are right, a replica of a Sopwith F.1 Camel. Seven originals have survived until today, none airworthy. Indeed a replica of the Fokker Dr. I Dreidecker. No original has survived. --- ![]() Something for IM-nice birds-Db ... definitely your responsibility! ![]() |

Seeing that emoticon, sixcyl, I thought it was another of You-Know-Who's posts. In this case, however, the praise is well deserved! |

I think there was a Faller model of the Fokker driedekker (or was it really Dreidecker? Fokker was Dutch, but he left for Germany...?). |
