![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 1952 sports biopic starring Ronald Reagan as Grover Cleveland Alexander. Despite Grover's career stretching from 1911 to 1930, this film puts focus on Grover's time with the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals, particularly, his rough transition back to baseball after injuries sustained in World War I left him partially deaf and with epilepsy. Fortunately, Grover overcame these issues and rejoined the team, but his epilepsy and alcoholism eventually resulted in him being sold to the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1926 season. Being the team's pitcher, Grover lead to the Cardinals to victory in the 1926 World Series for the first time in the team's history! This film gives Grover himself the distinction of not only being named after a President, but also played by a future one! Two more cars also appear, but are very badly photographed. The last one may not even be a real car, just a small set. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Set from 1907 to 1926. |

Ronald Reagan as Cards pitcher.. funny, if it was set in the 80's and with the Cards winning, he would have to visit himself at the White House.. -- Last edit: 2024-03-25 14:16:37 |
