Could this be 1956/57 by the taillight placement? |

Boblen, meaning "the bubble" - Bobbel is an alternative spelling of Boble, very old fashioned (pre 20th century). IMHO the Danish Typ 1s should have the name Boble rather than Boblen (essentially Bubble vs. the Bubble), but this nickname was introduced from before I came here, so I simply went with it. |

Typing into Google 'Volkswagen Boblen' we've got 19,000 answers. Comparing to 'Volkswagen Bobbel' 375,000. Seems the owners use 'Bobbel' nickname. |

Well, Danish Wikipedia calls it Boble. And I come across several other Danish sources that refer to it as Boble. I think it's a question of grammar. Boble is the correct modern noun according to the dictionary, however it's also derivated from the verb boble (to bubble), so that means bobbel is the stand-alone noun which appears to still be in use, I'm not sure to what extent. However, I'm only quarter Danish, so these are only theories. -- Last edit: 2016-08-01 21:11:34 |
