It could also be Stanza as well. 1977-81. Plate doesn't help here, as DC-8163 was originally issued around 1984/08 or so... |

Is there a website somewhere that pinpoints issue dates for Hong Kong plates ? |

Yes, it's for buses but you can just fill in the blanks and figure it out from there. http://1005.idv.hk/index.php?page=10 Click 'Reg No. List' at the top of the page (it's the blue button second from left) and then find the registration prefix ('DC' in this case). As an example, DC-8289 was first registered 1984/08/20 or 20/08/1984 or 08/20/1984, depending on the dating system you use. So from that, it can be deduced that the plate is from 1984/08 or so... -- Last edit: 2016-06-24 15:32:46 |

My book has DC as Sept 84, so both sources are singing from the same hymn-sheet. Which is reassuring. |

Well it seems about right! But for the car, I'm pretty sure HK follows Japanese naming conventions for the most part... -- Last edit: 2016-06-24 15:56:30 |

Official name in Hong Kong is 160J, same as Stanza in Japan. This car is DEFINITELY NOT SUNNY or Y series. |
