Advertising for Overdrive Magazine, a monthly periodical marketed towards truckers. An image search shows their covers in the '70s usually featured a truck accompanied by an attractive female model (trucking is a lonely business). It's still in publication, but with fewer scantily clad women on the cover: http://www.overdriveonline.com/# |

This pick-up was indeed a 1975 Chevrolet K5 owned by the Overdrive Magazine team Here's a picture of the different grills to Chevy Pick-Up's of those years 1976 was also a similar grill, But, This grill aligns with a 1975 grill and front end Overdrive Magazine team was magazine company for the trucking industry and did a write up on the film for their May of 1977 copy which is how I got the information that there was three different Kenworth trucks used to film Smokey and the Bandit (Again, I don't care what ANY visual guy says as they weren't on the set of the film like the Overdrive Magazine team was) That I had posted under the section on this site for the Kenworth Truck Ironically the Magazine to the left on the windshield of the Overdrive Magazine team's pick-up is their July of 1975 copy featuring White Line Fever and the Blue Mule which was another film that was also about truck drivers that had premiered two years prior to when Smokey and the Bandit had first premiered |
