Military designation was Willys M38 for this I believe. The closer one atleast is a civilian version I think. |

The front Jeep is a civilain AMC Jeep CJ5 between 1972-75. The military Willys M38A1 is the model in the rear. |

How to tell a CJ-5 from a M38A1: -Side marker lights, which can't be seen in this photo...nor in the film. All '68-on CJs had them, so if they are not painted over here, it's not a '72. -Spare tire on the rear side. A1s were on the rear for most models (armed versions and the stretched M170 ambulance excepted). -One piece windscreen. -Larger turn signals in front, different in rear. -No black out light on front fender -No battery box on cowl (early CJ-5/6s had them though). -A1s has driver side fuel fillers...like early CJ-5/6s. -A1s had power receptacle on right side. |
