You may have to fight me over it. (The only thing I don't like is the wheels. They just don't look right. Stock?) |

Those wheels were indeed factory options. The contemporary Mercury Cougar could also be had with these wheels and color combination. |

i think they could have done a better job finding a background vehicle for this scene..this thunderbird looks BEAT for it supposedly being only 3-4 years old, looks more like a 15 year old daily driver..which is what it probably was in 1990..or whenever this movie was made. |

The scene, where they find out about Tommy being whacked, happened in 1979. -- Last edit: 2012-08-14 07:58:03 |

This color combination was called the Bill Blase Edition T-Bird. A marketing scam by Ford, they got famous clothing designer to pick color schemes for Thunderbirds, in an attempt to divert consumers attention away from the fact that this car was a badge engineered LTD, A piece of junk in itself. 1977 was kinda of a low water mark for Detroit cars. |

The 77-79 T-birds were actually a continuation of the Ford Elite. |

These wheels were introduced in 1978, as part of the Sport Decor Group, which I think this has, in Dark Midnight Blue/Chamois, based on the colored matching wheels and stripes. The only thing that doesn't match is the bodyside mouldings, which should also be Chamois-colored, and not blue. There was no Bill Blass package on the T-bird, it was on the Lincoln Mark V. http://automotivemileposts.com/tbird/paint1978tbird.html -- Last edit: 2013-02-09 01:13:17 |

Which would make it even less accurate, since that would make it roughly a year old and not nearly two years old. |
