[DB]. In Japan, this model was originally sold under Autozam brand as Autozam Revue. |

One of the latest with that"cartoon-ish"shape of 121 series(early dates back 1987,but were rebadged Kia Prides),1994 was one of the last year of that body(replaced since 1996 with the Mazda 121 Mk III with Ford Fiesta Mk III"Phase 2"coque,but Mazda engines) |

Sorry, datsunZ, but things are a bit different. The Mazda 121 that's been rebadged Kia Prides was the previous model, the edgy 3-door hatchback car. Kia reshaped it a bit and added a 5-door version. This one, built 1991-1998, was NOT rebadged by anyone but Mazda - sold in Europe (also here in Austria) as Mazda 121 or Mazda DB, and in other regions (Asia) as the original "Autozam Revue" BeanBandit mentioned, "Autozam" being a 100% Mazda brand. AustrALians (knowing it as Mazda) call(ed) it bubble car. Your impression that 1996 may have been this model's final year may be caused by Mazda's use of the name "121" for Mazda Demio export versions (yet still using it for this 4-door sedan here in Europe), and by replacing the "Autozam Revue" name with "Mazda Revue" (1994-1998), as the Autozam marque perished in '94. And the Mazda 121 Mk III / Ford Fiesta Mk, as you wrote correctly, started in '96. Thus, for a while, there were three sorts of 121 being produced: export-Demios, 121-named Revues, and Mk IIIs (Fiesta Mk siblings) - quite puzzling, of course. Just check out Autozam Revue on wikipedia. -- Last edit: 2008-09-17 07:19:21 |
