 Lada's were sold here in small numbers in the mid to late 1980's which is actually later than the movie is supposed to be set. Although they just say it is the 80's without being specific, the plot revolves around the introduction of random breath testing of drivers for alcohol (which was very early 80's), and the "hero" who owns a bar decides to supplement his loss of alcohol revenue with marijuana sales.
