The one on the third pic has an "X" plate, from 1981-1982 ! Isn't that too early ? |

Yes, too early for the Metro 6R4, except that the first cars would probably be registered as individual cars. So as the cars were not around in 1981-82 this possibly means one of three alternatives. They chose to re-use an existing registration - its possible providing the registration is before and not after when the car was built. I cannot see any advantage to this however. The body of the car originally held that registration. I think this is unlikely even if the Maestro floorpan (as I understand that's what they used) was of that age, it was modified so greatly that they did not have to use the same VIN number. The engine came from a the car originally that held that registration. So maybe it was a development car that, at the time it was registered, used an engine from an existing performance car? |
