Finally one on the site ![]() Due to its rarity, I wonder if we will some day see one in a movie rather than in a rallye/car documentary. |
◊ 2007-01-30 22:42 |
I guess that it is rather impossible, unfortunately. |
◊ 2007-01-30 22:50 |
Why impossible? We had some more rare cars on the site, there are some of these 4TC that belong to private owners ![]() |

Massive front overhang. |

Was this a version to sell to people or only a rally version? |
◊ 2007-01-30 23:13 |
Homologation version, 200 had to be made to race on Group B, compared to 5000 cars on Group A and N. |

From what I have read, 200 were supposed to be made. They sold 86 and destroyed most of the remaining ones when they retired from group B (as this category was banned shortly after that the car was made). Around 40 still exist. |

They were destroyed when what? |

Like the GS Birotor, another "failure" (or abandonned project) of the company: I guess it costs less to destroy "few" cars than have to provides parts and repairs for them (and maybe also that these 4TC were hard to sell). GM did the same with the EV1, cf /movie_489037-Who-Killed-the-Electric-Car.html -- Last edit: 2007-01-30 23:38:35 |

There were lots of rumors that Ford Motor Company (some which were claimed to come from Ford itself) that they (Ford) were going to buy back and destroyed all the Ford Explorers that they could possibly get. Different methods were purposed… Plan "B" : Mandatory Permanent Recall (MPR) Method #1: Collect all Ford Explorers as possible/ Set aside one Ford Assembly Factory for disassembly of the vehicles. Method #2: Collect all Ford Explorers as possible / Set aside several acres of land for a makeshift graveyard. (Not very efficient, but a proposal nonetheless) Method #3 Collect all Ford Explorers as possible/ Remove particular parts of the vehicles, and burn or incinerate what was left. These were methods purposed when Ford was being confronted with the possibility that the First and Second Generation Ford Explorer SUVs’ were not safe and posed a hazard to those in and around them. |

Ok 'impossible' isn't a good word ![]() |

Nice find! ![]() I have seen about 4 4TCs in the last few years, all on shows and most where for sale. They are road legal, so you actually could run into one. Although I admit the chances are not very great. -- Last edit: 2007-01-31 08:30:26 |

Not physically destroyed in my opinion. Lot of theme went for sale without title (carte grise), new or quite new, and sometime for a low price...I won't be surprised to learn in a couple of years that many are still alive. Citroën is used to this practice (title destruction). Same thing happened with GS Birotor. Lot of theme were kept without title, then came back on the road on their 25th anniversary with a "carte grise de collection"... ![]() |

I believe that BX 4 TC project was abandoned 'cause PSA will prefer to push forward the development of Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evo(and beginning that of next to come 405 Turbo 16),but if B-Group era was next to end PS Own a Majorette 1/55 circa model miniature of it,white with "Double Chevrons"on red background decals |

I have that model auto too. Recently there were BX4 TC at 1/43th scale in the Altaya collection "Voitures de Rallye" and in the Atlas collection "Passion Citroën" (civilian version) Was this projec really abandonned because of Peugeot? I thought that the BX 4TC was released (too late) after the 205/405 T16, a little before the end of that whole group B category. |

I have a compilation of french reportages from 1980's rallies (84-86), where we can see this car in 'action', however it is rather not good idea to add them here, because even if they came on DVD they aren't a real movie. This ~1/55 BX 4TC looked good with Majorette Visa Chrono from the same period. ![]() I agree, that Peugeot wasn't the reason - the 4TC was simply... not good car, the idea was out of date (engine at the front, too big body etc.) - Citroen even if would like, couldn't develop this car and change it to a serious competitor for 205 or Delta. So because the 1986 Acropolis rally was a complete disaster for BX 4TC and everyone already known that Gr. B will be cancelled with new 1987 season, Citroen ended its adventure with rallies. -- Last edit: 2007-01-31 18:37:02 |

It was not that either. There where some severe crashes in the season before. The Rally federation decided to change the rules for rallye cars the next season. To put safety on higher standards. Because the 4TC was desgined for the old rules it could not compete any more without changing the majority of parts at the cars. It had nothing to do with a 205 or with the car not preforming well. By the way the engine they used was the same as from the 505 Turbo. To make it fit the front had been extended. I have to other model too, it is from Majorette I think. I am still looking for the Atlas and ALtaya though. |
